The 2025 Moustache Game e-bike is designed to cater to all types of riders. Even with its high-end components, the price remains highly competitive, making it a strong contender in the e-bike market. Could this be the key to its success?

A Standout Design – No Hiding Here!

Moustache, known for producing exclusively aluminum e-bikes, has made the new Game a true head-turner. Unlike other brands that prefer to hide the motor and battery inside the frame, the Game’s bold design proudly showcases its 5th generation Bosch motor. The motor is tilted upward, a statement that shouts, “I’m an e-bike!” Based in the Vosges, France, Moustache isn’t afraid to stand out from the crowd.

Moustache has left no stone unturned with the 2025 Game. It’s built on a brand-new platform that houses the Bosch Performance Line CX motor. This new motor provides the same power as the previous model but operates more quietly and offers versatile battery options. One significant improvement is that the irritating rattling sound from previous models during rough descents has finally been eliminated!

Optimized Motor Position

Rather than fully integrating the motor into the frame, Moustache opted to keep it exposed, allowing direct airflow for better cooling. This distinctive feature positions the motor upward in the frame, with the battery integrated into the downtube but removable from underneath. You’ll need to remove the skid plate and axle to do this, ideally with the bike upside down.

Battery and Tool Storage

The Ready-to-Roll kit comes standard with all bikes and includes a frame bag, which is placed above the battery…
…which can hold a complete puncture repair kit.
Also included in the Ready-to-Roll kit is a multi-tool stored in the headtube.
Ready to ride straight out of the box, the kit also features a customisable frame protection film, ensuring your bike is trail-ready from day one.

Moustache adds practical touches like a clip-on storage space for the battery lock key in the skid plate and a cleverly hidden multi-tool in the headtube. There’s even a storage pouch for a puncture repair kit, a must-have accessory for long rides.

The Specs of the 2025 Moustache Game 160.9

With this impressive setup, the Game 160 is designed to tackle the toughest trails with ease. Despite the rugged components, the bike remains well-balanced at R183,578 for the 600 Wh version and R189,828 for the 750 Wh option.

Moustache rely on MAXXIS ASSEGAI tires in the soft MaxxGrip rubber compound front…
… and rear, which generate outstanding traction.

Ride Experience – Uphill and Downhill Performance

Climbing Like a Pro

On climbs, the Moustache Game excels. Its upright, comfortable riding position and long chainstays make steep, technical climbs feel manageable. The 85 Nm of torque from the Bosch motor provides smooth, quiet assistance, whether you’re cruising on a fire road or tackling more aggressive terrain.

Downhill Dominance

When heading downhill, the Game’s high front end and long chainstays ensure exceptional stability, making it easy to stay composed on fast, rocky descents. The suspension system is highly effective at absorbing big hits, providing a smooth, controlled ride.

However, on tighter, more playful trails, the bike can feel slightly sluggish. The suspension is more comfort-oriented, making it less responsive on flowy, technical sections. But for those who prefer stability over agility, the Game offers an unmatched downhill experience.

The Moustache Game is perfect for riders who value stability and confidence over aggressive, high-performance suspension. Its robust design and thoughtful features make it an excellent choice for beginners or casual riders. If you’re looking for a fast and stable bike for downhill riding, this is an ideal option.

However, active riders seeking more progressive, responsive suspension may find the Game less suited to their needs, especially on tight, technical trails.

MTBSA Conclusion – Is the 2025 Moustache Game Worth It?

The 2025 Moustache Game 160.9 is a solid, well-equipped e-bike that provides excellent value for money. Its standout design, practical features like the Ready-to-Roll kit, and high-end components make it a fantastic option for those who want a reliable downhill performer. While it may not be the most agile on tighter trails, its stability and comfort make it a great choice for many riders. With a price starting at R183,578, the Game offers a top-tier riding experience without breaking the bank.
